Clothes and personal textiles — by far the largest volume. Winter jackets and thermals for US Midwest and Canada destinations, formal shirts and trousers for office-going Masters students, traditional ethnic wear for the first Diwali abroad. We compress winter clothing in vacuum-sealed bags at your Hyderabad address — a single 25 kg suitcase of clothing typically compresses to 18–19 kg of chargeable weight, saving 30% on carrier rates.
Kitchen utensils, pressure cookers and masala dabbas — the second-largest category. Hawkins pressure cookers (3L and 5L), Prestige mixer-grinders, idli stands, dosa tawas, kadhais and chapati rolling boards. We seal masala dabbas with food-grade double-tape to prevent leakage and declare each on the customs invoice as "personal-use kitchen utensils" — a category that clears US CBP, Canada CBSA and UK HMRC duty-free under personal-effects rules.
Books and study material — practical and sentimental. Engineering textbooks, GRE/GMAT prep books, novels by Telugu authors, family Bhagavad Gita copies, devotional CDs and pen drives with parent-recorded video messages. Books ship at favourable air-freight rates because of their weight-to-value ratio; for boxes over 20 kg of books, we often switch from DHL Express to Aramex economy to cut your rate by 35–45%.
Electronics and gadgets — declared, never hidden. Laptops (almost always packed in original box with proof of purchase), Indian-brand mobile phones, hard disks loaded with movies, Indian power adaptors and step-up transformers. We strongly advise students to carry laptops in cabin baggage on the flight; if shipping ahead, declare full MRP value on the customs invoice and pre-pay duty if applicable — undeclared electronics are the #1 reason for parcel holds at JFK, Heathrow and Toronto Pearson.
Food, pickles and dry snacks — region-dependent. Hyderabad biryani masala mixes, Andhra pickle vacuum-sealed pouches (Priya, Mother's Recipe), Telugu Brahmin podis from home kitchens, dry-fruit gift packs from Karachi Bakery. What we will NOT ship in student baggage — and why. Lithium battery banks above 100Wh (airline cargo regulations), aerosol cans (pressurised hazmat), open liquids without secondary seal, fresh fruits or vegetables (biosecurity), gold jewellery above the destination duty-free limit (declared customs risk), prescription medicines without doctor's prescription on letterhead. We refuse these at pickup rather than risk your entire shipment being seized or returned at destination customs.

For August (Fall) intakes — start packing in early June. Hyderabad's monsoon peaks in July making transit to airport tougher; vacuum packing requires dry conditions. We collect baggage from Hyderabad addresses through June and July, ship via DHL/FedEx in 6–9 working days, with delivery to your US/UK/Canada accommodation typically 3–10 days before your own flight lands. Book your pickup slot by mid-June for the smoothest experience — late-July pickups face airline capacity constraints and ~20% higher peak-season carrier rates.
For January (Spring) intakes — ship through November and December. Lower-volume season, faster transit, and better rates because air freight capacity is less constrained. Q. Will my student baggage be opened by US Customs?
Random screening happens, but a well-documented box with an itemised commercial invoice clears CBP Section 321 (personal-use under $800) without opening. Q. Can you ship before my US visa is stamped?
Yes — you can ship student baggage to a friend's, relative's, university dorm or even hotel address as the named recipient. We frequently ship to "hold for arrival" addresses with the recipient's phone for coordination. Visa status of the sender is not a customs requirement.
Q. What if my baggage arrives before I do?
For US addresses, FedEx attempts three delivery dates and then holds at the local depot for up to 5 working days at no charge. Most students time pickup so the box arrives 2–5 days before their own flight — the receiving family or roommate signs for it, and it's waiting in your room when you arrive.
Q. Can I ship two boxes from two different Hyderabad addresses?

The only possible additional charge is destination-country duty IF you're shipping commercial-grade quantities or undeclared electronics above duty-free limits — and we warn you about these before booking.
