Andhra pickles — the dominant category. Avakaya (mango pickle in oil), gongura pickle (red sorrel), tomato pickle, lemon and lime pickle, drumstick pickle, citron pickle, ginger pickle — we ship all major varieties. Homemade pickles from Hyderabad households come to us in glass jars or steel dabbas; we transfer them into vacuum-sealed food-grade pouches with double seal and oil-absorbent inner liners. A single pickle parcel typically weighs 2–5 kg and contains 4–8 jars of mixed varieties for the homesick recipient abroad.
Podis and chutneys — Telugu Brahmin staples. Kandi podi (toor dal podi), pesara podi (moong), kobbari podi (coconut), karam podi (chilli), kobbari ginjala karam (coconut-cashew), nuvvula podi (sesame), karivepaku podi (curry leaf), pulihora gojju (tamarind rice mix). These dry podis are the easiest food category to ship internationally — no moisture, no leak risk, accepted by US FDA, UK FSA, Canada CFIA and most Gulf customs without hassle. We vacuum-seal each podi separately and label contents in English for customs clarity.
Hyderabadi sweets and snacks — peak during festivals. Karachi Bakery fruit biscuits, double-ka-meetha (cold-chain), qubani-ka-meetha (during Ramzan and Eid), haleem mix sachets, biryani masala sachets, sakinalu, ariselu, sunnundalu, mysore pak. Cold-chain sweets like double-ka-meetha ship with gel packs and insulated cartons via DHL Express to ensure they reach within 4 days. Dry sweets like sakinalu and ariselu travel comfortably in standard cartons.
Ghee, oil and dairy — special handling required. Vacuum-sealed ghee tubs (200g to 1kg sizes), traditional cold-pressed oils (groundnut, sesame, coconut). Ghee is widely accepted but liquid limits vary — USA allows up to 5 litres per personal-use shipment, UK has no specific limit for sealed commercial product, Australia restricts dairy. We pour ghee into double-walled BPA-free containers, seal under nitrogen flush where possible, and pack in oil-absorbent inner liners as secondary protection.
What we will NOT ship — and why. Open jars without secondary seal (leak risk in unpressurised cargo holds), fresh fruits and vegetables (biosecurity rejections at USA, Canada, Australia, NZ), meat-based foods including dry meat pickles like uppu-cheppalu (universal customs rejection), homemade dairy products like fresh paneer, alcohol-based herbal preparations, fresh curry leaves. Original glass jar OR food-grade BPA-free plastic container. We DO NOT reuse pickle jars from previous shipments. Lid screwed tight, sealed with one wrap of food-grade Teflon tape at the screw thread.
The sealed jar goes inside a vacuum-sealed food-grade pouch with an oil-absorbent inner liner. Any oil that escapes the jar seal is caught here and never reaches the outer carton. This is the layer that prevents 99% of complaints.
Industrial bubble-wrap (3 layers) around the vacuum pouch, then a small inner cardboard carton with corner inserts to prevent jar-to-jar impact during air cargo handling. Each jar isolated in its own inner cell.
7-ply corrugated export carton, double-taped seams, "FRAGILE — FOOD CONTENTS" stickers on all six faces, customs invoice in transparent pouch on top. Labelled with destination address in English and local script where applicable.

For Australia, New Zealand and increasingly the EU, we recommend shipping ONLY commercially-manufactured pickles with food-safety certification (Priya, Mother's Recipe, Mahesh Brand, MTR) — homemade pickles risk seizure at biosecurity. For all other countries, homemade pickles from your kitchen ship safely as long as we vacuum-seal and label them at pickup.

Ramzan and Eid (March–April typically). Peak demand for Hyderabadi haleem mixes, qubani-ka-meetha, double-ka-meetha cold-chain, dates and dry-fruit gift boxes shipped from Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki and Old City neighbourhoods to Gulf destinations (Dubai, Sharjah, Riyadh, Kuwait). We start accepting bookings 4 weeks before Eid; cold-chain items ship via DHL Express to land within 4 days.
Diwali (October–November). The largest single peak of the year for international Andhra sweet shipments. Sakinalu, ariselu, mysore pak, kaju katli, dry-fruit hampers and silver pooja samagri ship from Hyderabad to NRI families worldwide. Book pickup by mid-October for guaranteed pre-Diwali delivery via DHL/FedEx Express. Our Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills routes run two pickup slots daily during this peak.
Sankranti / Pongal (mid-January). Regional Telugu sweets (paramannam, pongal, ariselu variations), gongura pickle for the new harvest, sesame-based sweets (nuvvula laddu). Peak demand from Telangana and Andhra-origin households to US Midwest and Bay Area Telugu communities. Plan shipping for the first week of January.
Christmas and New Year (December). Karachi Bakery fruit biscuits and plum cakes ship in volume to UK, USA, Canada and Australia. Lower-volume season overall — faster transit and better rates available for non-perishable food shipments through December.

Q. How much does a 2 kg pickle parcel from Hyderabad to USA cost?
Typical 2 kg pickle box (4–5 jars) costs ₹4,800–₹5,800 via FedEx International Priority, delivered to your US address in 5–7 working days, all-inclusive of pickup, our 4-layer packing, customs documentation and door-to-door tracking.
Q. Will my homemade avakaya leak in transit?
Not with our 4-layer packing standard. Glass jar is wrapped in vacuum-sealed pouch with oil-absorbent liner, then in bubble-wrap and inner carton, then in export-grade 7-ply carton. Leak rate under 0.4% across 60,000+ shipments.
Q. Can you ship double-ka-meetha and qubani-ka-meetha abroad?
Yes via DHL Express cold-chain. We pack in insulated carton with frozen gel packs that maintain temperature for 5 days. Best results for transit under 4 days — USA, UK, Canada and Gulf destinations work; Australia and NZ are borderline and we advise against cold-chain sweet shipments to those countries.
Q. Does Hyderabadi biryani masala ship through customs?
Yes — biryani masala packets, dry spice mixes, and instant gravy bases all clear US FDA, UK FSA, Canadian CFIA and EU customs without issue when commercially packaged. Homemade masala mixes in unlabelled pouches are higher risk for Australia/NZ; we recommend commercial packets only for those destinations.
Q. Can I ship ghee internationally from Hyderabad?
Yes — vacuum-sealed ghee tubs ship safely to USA (up to 5L personal use), UK, Canada and Gulf. We use BPA-free containers with secondary seal and oil-absorbent secondary packing. Liquid declared accurately on customs invoice.
Q. What about fresh curry leaves and gongura?
Fresh leaves are rejected at biosecurity by all major destinations. Send DRIED gongura podi (which we vacuum-seal at pickup) — it travels safely and is what most NRI households actually use in their cooking abroad.
Q. Do you ship to UK universities for student food packages?
Yes — DHL UK final-mile network reaches every university postcode in 1–2 working days from London hub arrival. Transit Hyderabad → UK accommodation typically 4–6 working days door-to-door. Popular for parents shipping podis, packaged pickles and dry snacks to first-year students at UK universities.
Q. Is there a weight limit for pickle parcels?

Q. What about gluten-free, organic or vegan-labelled food shipments?
Same shipping process — but please label clearly and provide ingredient lists for customs. Some US states require additional FDA paperwork for organic-claim foods crossing the border; we handle the paperwork.
Q. Can you provide cold-chain shipping for paneer or fresh dairy?
We do not ship fresh dairy products like paneer, fresh yoghurt or buttermilk — risk of spoilage in air cargo handling delays makes it impractical. Vacuum-sealed processed dairy like ghee, packaged butter, condensed milk and cheese blocks ship fine.
