The threshold is under review by the Department of Finance, so confirm it at the time you ship rather than trusting a figure printed months earlier.

Personal effects and household goods not in commercial quantity, arriving in baggage or mail, clear through informal entry — a lighter process that does not need a customs broker. Worn clothing in quantity is worth declaring carefully: a long-standing statute bars commercial imports of used clothing, and a large bag of garments can read as commercial unless it is itemised as personal effects.
